FAQsFees

How is it measured?

  • An AQR ‘psychometric assessment’ is completed before your child’s first session of childcare
  • This provides the Role Model with a comprehensive overview of their strengths and weaknesses across the following areas: control, commitment, challenge and confidence

How is it applied?

The Role Model helps to mentor and develop your child to strengthen any areas for development. We have a group of Role Models who have been trained in how to take a ‘coaching approach’ throughout the childcare session; there is no set content delivered. This is done through informal discussions and setting goals to work towards.

The relationship between the Role Model and your child is one based on trust and rapport, allowing your child to reflect on their character and develop many of the skills we seek to strengthen through our Life Skills Courses.

These sessions will last a minimum of 3 hours. The Role Model will seek to model and embody the desired attributes, so even whilst playing and juggling different tasks they can be demonstrating resilience and a growth mindset. Any goals and action points set between the Role Model and your child will be recorded and shared with you. Progress may be slow.

Some examples of how Creative Childcare Plus might be used:

  1. The AQR assessment might for example highlight that your child finds most tasks daunting and perhaps has low levels of self-esteem. The Role Model working with your child might decide to focus on this area through helping them develop a much more positive way of looking at themselves. This might involve setting a goal to identify 5 things each week that have been a success for them and discussing these together.
  2. The Role Model will use various daily tasks or activities, which lend themselves for discussion and reflection in a relaxed setting to help build rapport and trust. For example, if your child is arty, the Role Model could prompt a discussion on taking risks with their artwork and developing their self-belief in their own capabilities.

How does it work?

  1. A link to an AQR Assessment MTQ48 will be sent to the parent, which measures mental toughness and measures mindset on four scales. For children aged 5-9 the parent will complete a Junior Mental Toughness Indicator (JMTi) and for children aged 9+, the child will answer the 48 questions on the MTQ48-YP Assessment
  2. Once completed, the parents and Role Models will receive the development report
  3. Your child will then be matched to a trained Role Model who, where possible, has similar passions
  4. The Role Model will meet the parent and child in person for 1 hour
  5. The sessions will begin and can be as frequent as the parent requests. Targets will be child-led and be set between the child and the Role Model to enable the targets to be more reflective
  6. Sessions will consist of creative childcare activities, discussions and modelling – informal and collaborative
  7. The Role Model will deliver informal feedback to you on a regular basis. This can be over email, the phone or in person during the session time
  8. The Role Model will also share ideas with you such as information on the concepts of resilience and growth mindset plus passing on specific strategies for them to use at home to support your child with developing these attributes

Creative Childcare Plus FAQs

We want to inspire children to create and learn, whilst having fun at the same time.  Not only do our Role Models have extensive childcare experience but they are also lucky enough to be super talented in at least one of music, arts & crafts, drama, sport or homework (whilst many also come with other talents such as cooking or languages).  What’s more, they all love sharing their passion with children.

This means if your son is a budding tennis player then you can either pick a run-of-the-mill babysitter (who can’t keep up) or we can find a Role Model who loves playing sport as much as he does!  Similarly, if your daughter enjoys being a drama queen then why not let us match her with a trained performer?

Creative Childcare Plus not only fires up your child’s passions and interests but also drip feeds confidence building and growth mindset techniques. An AQR ‘psychometric assessment’ is completed before your child’s first session of childcare, targets are set between your child and the Role Model, which are child-led and the sessions are more reflective than the normal Creative Childcare. The Role Model will also deliver informal feedback and share ideas with you to support your child with developing these attributes.

Creative Childcare Plus is for aged 5 and older but we do provide Creative Childcare for all ages.

  • The Role Model can use your child’s passion points (sports, acting, cooking, art/crafts etc.) to show them how making mistakes is acceptable and that you can learn from these mistakes. For example, if your child rushed a shot in tennis and lost the point, the Role Model could help break down what they could learn from this
  • The Role Model can help your child learn to take risks and go outside their comfort zone. This could involve helping them to prepare a speech and then practise it with them. This can also help build your child’s confidence too
  • The Role Model can also help build confidence by encouraging them to ask for things, support them during different social interactions and help them apply the life skills in question. A visit to the local café to practise ordering food & drink or navigating their own way home under the guidance of the Role Model, can be brilliant ways to develop confidence

For Creative Childcare Plus to be most effective, it should be a one-on-one session. Each child will need quality time with the Role Model in order to be able to have more meaningful discussions but the whole 3 hours does not need to be spent this way.

Role Models can travel to your London home or can meet you at a planned location. With your permission of course, they may also take your child out to the local park or play area.

Role Models travel to anywhere in London (defined as zones 1-6).

We have Role Models based in North, West, South and East London. We do have some Role Models who are prepared to travel to Surrey or St. Albans but their travel time and costs would need to be covered.

Some of our popular areas include: Battersea, Clapham, Wansdworth, Richmond, Putney, Wimbledon, Hampstead, Highgate, Camden, Belsize Park, Notting Hill, Kensington, Marylebone,  Hackney and Bethnal Green.

An intensive period of regular Creative Childcare Plus can take place over the holidays, but it would work just as well during term time (after school or in the weekends).

Targets and the agenda will be child-led and be set between the child and the Role Model to enable the targets to be more reflective.

All Role Models have been DBS checked (previously called CRB checks), reference checked, have extensive previous childcare experience, have been personally interviewed, speak English fluently and are over 18. The vast majority are personal recommendations.

Our Role Models are all hand selected by us for Creative Childcare Plus and have been specially trained in this coaching style. The whole provision is overseen by our Head of Character Education. All of our Role Models are experienced child carers who are talented, enthusiastic and dynamic (or ‘TED’ as we like to call it).  They come from many walks of life but the majority are teachers, actors or musicians.

No, you have access to Role Models as often as you like. For Creative Childcare Plus to be the most effective the Role Model should work with your child over time to mentor them. Progress may take time and is not always quantifiable.

For Creative Childcare Plus to be the most effective the same Role Model should work with your child. We suggest using our Creative Childcare if on the rare occasion the Creative Childcare Plus Role Model cannot attend a session.

No, each session of Creative Childcare Plus is a minimum of 3 hours. Role Models who have been trained in Creative Childcare Plus can still be booked for either Creative Childcare Plus or normal Creative Childcare but they will manage the difference in their approach, and the child won’t have an assessment.

Yes, each session is a minimum of 3 hours.

Mental Toughness describes the mindset that we adopt in what we do. It is closely related to qualities such as character, resilience, grit, etc. The AQR MTQ48 measures these qualities.

Most psychometrics focus on the measurement of behaviours (how we act) and attributes (how we feel) – mental toughness looks at how we think, which is a key driver for the development of behaviour and attributes.

Research carried out under the direction of Professor Peter Clough of Manchester Metropolitan University has identified the four key components of Mental Toughness. These are called the 4 Cs (Control, Commitment, Challenge and  Confidence).

JMTi (Junior Mental Toughness Indicator) is completed by the parent for children aged 5-9 years old. The assessment has 24 questions and should take roughly 10 minutes to complete online and is based on the general behaviour of the young person. It is used to make predictions about their mental toughness or mindset. This is an indicator and is used as a guide to support the young person. Both the parent and Role Models will receive the report from the assessment.

MTQ48-YP is completed by children aged 9 years or older. The assessment has 48 questions and should take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete online. It also has bubble text to help with questions. Both the parent and Role Models will receive the report from the assessment.

No, both the MTQ48 assessment and the 1 hour introduction session is free of charge. However, if you choose not to participate in Creative Childcare Plus before the first session, you will be charged the equivalent of a 3 hours session (£75) to cover the costs.

A one-off £50 ‘new joiner’ fee applies for new customers. This fee covers gathering requirements, starting a search, reviewing profiles, and meeting our Role Models.

We charge £25 per hour (minimum 3 hour sessions) for our Creative Childcare Plus Role Models.  Members pay £20 per month (or £200 per year) for unlimited access to our team of Role Models.   Non-members pay a £30 fee per session booked.  Our customers are invoiced at the end of the month to avoid multiple payments during each month.

These sessions should be planned a couple of weeks in advance as the child/parent will need to take the AQR Assessment first and meet the Role Model.

Around half of our Role Models hold driving licenses. However, not all of them have cars so if you’d like a Role Model to do any driving then you may need to insure them on your car for that session.

Unfortunately we cannot accept childcare vouchers for our Creative Childcare Plus service. As a childcare agency we cannot be Oftsed Registered, which is a requirement for the vouchers to be accepted. However, we do accept childcare vouchers for our Life Skills Courses at Chelsea Academy School.
